About the Artist
Emerging St. Louis Artist, Alvin J. Lewis, uses acrylic paint to create conceptual art, while continuing to search for his signature style. Alvin strives to make a connection with his viewers, showing them things they haven’t seen before, and occasionally creating recognizable images.
Majority of his work are positive images of people of color. Every piece of art isn’t for everyone, with that in mind; Alvin expresses himself the way he chooses.
While attending the first annual “Art Mimosas and Pancakes” art/music show in St. Louis, he was inspired by other talented artists. Thank God he decided to give painting a try and ignored self-doubt. Painting genuinely makes him happy. His original art work has been showcased in “Vibes the Grant Arts Event” and Media Outlet in “The St. Louis American”.
His favorite painting is a portrait he painted of his beautiful wife, who was 9 months pregnant with their daughter. In Lewis’ very first art show, Vibes, his mother purchased his first painting “Retail Therapy”. Support from the people he love makes him feel like he can do anything.
